The Sobremesa collection explores what binds a multicultural household through the shared language of food, craftsmanship, and connection. Tracing a journey from Barcelona’s lively markets to Mexico City’s rich metalworking traditions to culminate in Oakland, California, the collection brings three distinct cultures to the same table. Inspired by Barcelona’s aquatic surroundings, architecture, and metalwork, abstracted metal sheets are reshaped into motifs found throughout the collection. Through the warmth of touch and the labor of making, the collection transforms the metal’s rigidness into an intimate expression of sobremesa—the art of sharing a meal.
